Most Flattering Dresses For Petite Women

When it comes to dressing, petite women sometimes get the brunt of the problems. Everything is way too long, the flares tend to hit at the wrong part, and tailoring can be expensive. That is why it is so important to figure out which dresses are the best for your body and which ones you should probably stay away from – though know that every single body is different and what works on one petite girl won’t work on another.

Still, here are some of the top-dresses that we have found work for a majority of petite women:

High Low Dresses

Sometimes these dresses get a bad name, but they are actually very flattering on women who are a bit shorter. High low dresses that are shorter tend to be better, as they will show off your leg and give the allusion of length there.

Make sure to get one in a color that flatters your skin tone and, of course, be sure to wear proper shoes that will also lengthen your leg.

Side Scallops

You will soon learn that the trick to looking taller is to have more skin showing on certain parts of your body. If you aren’t comfortable showing a lot of leg, you may want to consider a longer, knee-length dress that has side scallops.

This will make your legs look longer without actually showing much of your legs – it will especially work when you are walking.

Cinch It In

One issue us short girls seem to have is that we can’t really get the curves that are so popular right now. So, we have to fake it. One of the best ways to do this is to cinch your waist in so that you have defined curves.

Not only that, but a looser dress with a cinched waist will help to even out your body if you feel like you have a shorter portion – move the cinch for more legs or more torso.

Flounce Hem

One of the best ways to make yourself look longer and taller is to add a bit of drama toward the bottom of your dress. This will make everything above the drama look just a little bit longer. How will this help? It streamlines your body. You may have to play around with where the flounce hem should fall – there are plenty of options out there.

In general, you want a dress that doesn’t have too much weight at the bottom or it will weigh you down.

Which one will you wear?
