Amal Clooney’s Sister Criticized For Selling ‘Luxury Face Masks’

George Clooney’s sister-in-law Tala Alamuddin is getting some serious criticism online for her decision to promote and sell luxury face masks on her website. Many considered it a way to cash-in during a medical crisis. The $33 Le Masque face masks come in denim, camouflage and leopard prints.  Alamuddin’s site describes them as “the face mask specially designed to offer comfort with flair. In stand-out designs, and featuring bold graphics and patterns, Le Masque stays in place with a gentle elastic, providing a snugger, gapless fit. Of course, Le Masque is washable, too, and can safely and effectively be reused again and again. Whether at work, out on the town, or somewhere in between, a little comfortable (and chic) Le Masque coverage definitely goes a long way.”

In a statement to Hello yesterday, Alamuddin said the following “We created Le Masque as a response to help during these unprecedented, scary times. Masks are a staple in Asian households, and used regularly for colds, pollution, and cosmetic recovery. Our masks are NOT N95 certified, and should be considered a physical barrier for sneezing and colds with flair, but they are not medically certified. “We are eager to support people during this trying time, so we’ve taken a stance and all profits from Le Masque sales will be donated to Red Cross Singapore in support of their efforts to those directly affected by coronavirus. We are doing our part, we hope that you do yours and we’ll help bring you some joy by wearing a TALA Le Masque.”
